Lal Vijay Shahdeo’s journey from a Jharkhand village to Cannes

Born in Jharkhand, Lal Vijay Shahdeo made his presence felt in the entertainment industry by being associated with hit shows like ‘Shagun’, ‘Shararat’ and ‘Kehta Hai Dil’. A casting director, creative director, project head, writer and later a director, Shahdeo, who began his career with theatre, is now going to the Cannes Film Festival with his short film The Silent Statue. Featuring Richa Sony, Indraneil Sengupta and Karan Sharma, the film is based on the story written by Marathi writer Ratnakar Matkari and screenplay, dialogue by Marathi writer-directors Raj Firke and Kedar Dhawarkar.
